About me
- Where I liveI live in Doncaster, it's quite Chavvy, but there's some interesting little areas tucked away. It's a very old town, with history dating back quite a way. There's new stuff here too, shopping complexes, a pleasure park. There's some nice greenery if you know where to look.
- Where are you originally from?I'm from Edlington, just outside Doncaster, but I did travel around a lot as a kid.
- Do you want to stay there?I have little or no desire to grow old here. There's a couple of places I'd like to retire too. If it must be in the UK, it'll probably be Glastonbury, always had an affinity with the place.
- What is your occupation?I work in IT. I'm responsible for the systems infrastructure, and the day-to-day running of the network for a financial company.
- What have you done so far?Job wise, there isn't much I haven't done. I've done the obligatory bar work, as well as working in the leisure industries (bingo halls etc). I've Done Night shifts in hotels, worked in sales etc. Abroad, I've worked in a convenience store in Canada and done some manual work in Poland. For the last few years, it's purely been IT work. I'm divorced, which at 25 is a kinda weird. Noone beleives it at first. It's always hard to say WHY a marraige ends, and at first, I really blamed myself. I didn't do anything wrong as such, but I felt I was maybe a little too attached? Eventually I realised that in the end, a lot of other stuff was happening in our lives at the time, and I think we maybe got married just a little too young. I've travelled a little, I like to get out to ew places to "tick off" all those little experiences people want to have "see this, do that, stand here etc".
- What are your future plans?I do want to settle down again. I sincerely want to find someone I can enjoy spending time with. There's lots of places I still want to see, but there's time for that too. At the moment, my life seems pretty ok. I keep messing up a couple of relationships that I really want to keep, I think I'm a bit of an ass at times, but I know I am, and I'm trying to be a better person, for myself, and those around me. Hopefully, one day, people will think nice things of me :p
- Your perfect partnerMy ideal partner would certainly be someone intelligent, personality is a biiiiig factor. I'm not exaclty a centerfold male model, so i can't really judge others on their appearance, but I guess it would be a lie if I said I'm not too fussy! If I could be picky, someone a little shorter than me, maybe a little ditsy? That way i can look at her and think "You're cute" hehe. They have to be independant, and strong willed. speak their mind, even if they think it would upset me. I'd hate to think I've done something wrong without being told (I've always known that as a male, I might not always see the most obvious things in front of me!) Physical appearnce, if it were to be a factor: I'd probably say slender, a little goth looks good in my opinion, but not too much. I don't want to have to insist my date wears sleeves, if you catch the meaning?
Stuff I like
- What are you interests/hobbies?My main interst comes with the job. I'm always ahlf way though some technical thing, either building a pc, or rmodding a console or something nerdy. I've a strong interest in the occult, or other fortean/new age pursuits. It's not soemthing I practuce or follow specifically, not a religion or anything, but I could sit for hours talking about what's beyond this thin veil of reality. I've an interst in history, archeaology and antiquity. I'm also, on that note, a medieveal reeanacotr (not LARP). We do most of the major british 15th centruy battles, as well as small fayres, shows etc. We're now officially classed as "medieval entertainers" which means there's enough leeway to do the fun stuff, without being TOO hung up on every detail, but dedicated enough to care about the details. For anyone who wonders, yes, it's real armour, real steel swords (blunt of course), and we do train.
- MusicI don't really get to gigs/converts as much as I think I might like too, but that's because there's never anyone to go with :( I'd love to meet someone who'd invite me to a festival, or at least let me invite them. I'm into a lot actually, I'm quite ecclectic with music. I don't really go for what a friend of mine calls "Chav music", the modern thumping type, but beyond that, I'll listen to anything from country, blues and jazz, through to Prog, metal, pop etc. I tend to go through phases, where for a month or two, I'll listen to celtic stuff, then I'll ahve a blues period, and then maybe progressive rock. At the moment, favourates would be Bob Dylan, the Doors, and maybe Nightwish (odd combo?).
- Your fav tv seriesMy favourate show at the moment is Defiantely House. I got turned on to it a year ago, and haven't stopped watching it since. There's a lot of hidden humour, if you can tune into the wavelength. Other than that, anything that makes me laugh is good. Starting to enjoy Saturday Night Live, but long term varouates are Family Guy and South Park (hehe).
- Your fav books/authorsI don't read much, sadly. I find it difficult to read at length, as it tends to makes me very tired. I read Anne Rice's Vampire Chronicles when I was a kid, and the Hitchikers Trilogy is a sure winner.
- What sort of movies do you like?I've been to the cinema more times than I care to count this year, since I moved intot he town centre, I'm always nipping down to pass an hour or two. I'm happy to watch most anything. Quite fond of Drama, but a romance, comedy, horror or anything you like will do me. Certainly prefer the big budget blockbusters!
- Types of people you like?I tend to get on better with the sadly minorities in society these days. I was on e of the smart, bullied ones at school, so I grew up resenting mainstream culture. I get on well with boffins, poets, dreamers and oddly, singers(?!) hehe.
- What kind of people do you find attractive? A little goth / emo goes a long way. Something about long gloves on a girl, or that almost naughty burlesque look is the physical side. I've also seemed to find myself in a relationship with dysfunctional people thoguh.... maybe I'm missing a hint about myself!
- FoodI like cooking, but I'm not particularly good at it. I'm a bit scared to try new foods, but that's because I have a rather bland pallete. I'm happy to eat whatever, but am far happier at McDonalds than i am at a thai restaurant, for example. I do like my Italian food, or Chinese (now and then, but with chinese, again, it's the same syff I like all the time).
- DrinksI like to drink on a MOnday mostly (karaoke!!!!) As for choice, it's either alopops (mmm, caffeine) or a good scotch whiskey.
- HolidaysAnywhere new. Prefer history to hot, mystery to service, and experience to budget. I've been to Canada, Greece, France, Ireland, Poland, and want to go and see EVERYTHING
- Fav thingGiant Space Hopper, or rapidly growing collection of musical isntruments I can't play.... Or maybe my movie/music/tv pisode collection on the computers.
- Fav PlaceGlastonbury
- What's your favourite drink?Bells
My attitude
- Family lifeI do want to get married again. My last marraige ended horribly, but I don't regret getting married. I wish her al the best and though we dont talk, I like to think we're on good terms. I did like the companionshiip and security, and I have no problems aiming for that again. I like to think of myself having kids, but the though scares the bejeesus outta me at the moment. i can't imagine doing that any time soon. My dad passed away a few yars ago, I still see my mum now and then. I grew up with my mums kids, (2 borthers, 1 sister). There's siblings on my dads side too, but I don't really see them so much.
- Jobs&WorkingI like my job, and I'm good at it. Very good.
- MoneyI'd rahter be happy than rich... But the idea of having a lot of money, does make me happy, so what can ya do? I earn a comfortbale amopunt for my age and situation, but I don't really do very well WITH the momey. I'd much rather spend it all then save, which will have to change when I settle down, but for now, i like nothing more than taking partners/mother on trip.
- PoliticsS'all wrong.
