About me
- Where I liveI'm currently sharing a lovely little house with 3 other postgraduate students. The best part is the garden; perfect for chilling in with a beer or BBQing.
- Where are you originally from?I'm originally from a village just outside Oxford, but I'm glad to get away from the small town mentality, the same people who are all doing not very interesting things and think that the world stops at the end of the road. I
- Do you want to stay there?I'm definitely someone who wants to see the world, I studied in Seattle last summer for 4 months which was a great experience despite the prejudices most people have about americans :) I definitely think there are so many places to see out there and I want to live abroad at some point, perhaps in Australia.
- What is your occupation?I'm currently finishing the first year of my PhD in Biology which has its ups and downs! Its hard work sometimes but I love the freedom to organise your own time, and everybody I work with are very social.
- What are your future plans?I'm going to be in York for at least the next couple of years finnishing my PhD and then I don't know! I want to travel more so perhaps I'll pack my bags and hit the road or I'll try and use my studies but maybe do field work somewhere tropical.
- Your perfect partnerIt sounds corny but a personality that clicks with mine is so important. It is so rare that I meet someone that I can just chat easily too, laugh together and complete relax around.
Stuff I like
- What are you interests/hobbies?I'm an outdoorsy person and love playing all sorts of sport. I need to get out in the country quite often and do some hiking. I used to do a lot of scuba diving around the SW of the UK but haven't done much since I moved up to York, instead I started white water kayaking which involves getting almost as wet!
- MusicA broad spectrum of Indie music eg Editors, Snowpatrol, Death Cab For Cutie, but also more folky stuff, my fav band at the moment are called The Decemberists. I'm a massive gig person when I can get tickets.
- Your fav books/authorsI read quite a lot, and will read almost anything. Its nice if my date reads but not essential.
- FoodI love cooking and am always keen to try new recipes, so if you like to cook great then if not I'll cook for you or we can get take away.
- What's your favourite drink?Mojito, Caiprinhas and a nice pint of ale.
My attitude
- Family lifeI think one day I want to have kids, but that all depends on finding the right person to have them with. I get on well with other peoples children; I was at a work colleagues house warming and their kids ended up using me as a human climbing frame and demanding aeroplane rides :)
- MoneyMoney has never been the most important thing to me, what is the point of having all the money in the world if you can't spend it? As long as I have enough to get by and a bit to enjoy myself then I am happy.
